Michael W. Gaffley , Ed.D., a program professor and graduate of Nova Southeastern University's Fischler Graduate School of Education and Human Services' Doctoral Program in Child and Youth Studies, brings a unique blend of scholarship and expertise to the position. In addition, Dr. Gaffley is the founder of the youth leadership development forum in South Africa where he implemented several community outreach programs. He is the recipient of numerous meritorious and academic awards for his accomplishments in difficult times, amongst others, Outstanding Student Achievement Award from NSU, Mayoral and Chairman's commendations and the Provincial Government's commendation for leadership during the transformation process.

Prior to becoming a program professor, Dr. Gaffley was a former executive director of human service agencies in both apartheid and post-apartheid South Africa. His expertise include: Behavior Management, Change Management, Community Outreach Programs, Conflict Management, Diversity and Multi-Cultural Work Teams, Entrepreneurial Skills Training, Experiential Learning Camps, Family Preservation, Family Re-unification, Foster Care, HIV/Aids Education, Life Skills Training, Mind-Set Changes, Myers Briggs Type Talk and Tests, Organizational Culture, Parenting Skills Enhancement, Permanency Planning, Program Evaluation, Residential Care,and Strategic Analysis and Planning.

He worked directly with the Nelson Mandela government's Reconstruction and Development Plan to alleviate the plight of the oppressed peoples. He conducted the first residential care research in the field of Child and Youth Care. He was a member of the state consultative process in rewriting the (Post-Apartheid) Child Care Act, while actively being involved in the UN charter on the Rights of Children. Working with emotionally disturbed children and youth in high risk environments, is his passion.

Dr. Gaffley currently holds membership in the Yung Center and is certified to do the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test and interpretation. He is certified in the Training of Trainers, is a Guidance Counselor; registered in Child and Youth Care Administration; and certified to conduct Developmental Assessment of Children, Youth and Families. He is a presenter and facilitator of diversity and multicultural, interactive, experiential learning, workshops.
